Everything You Need to Know About the University of Pretoria 2026 Applications:
Admission into the 2026 academic year at the University of Pretoria is now open accepting applications from prospective students, both South African nationals and international applicants. Applications for undergraduate programs for both South African and international students close on specific dates the year before the start of your studies. From the 2nd of April 2025, all online applications for the various courses and programmes will be open to all.
Applicants are therefore urged to make sure to check the deadlines and submit their application on time. To apply online, you will need internet access and a valid email address. Once you complete and submit your application, a student number (EMPLID) will be sent to your email as confirmation.
At the University of Pretoria, applicants will need to pay an application fee of R300 (30 US Dollars) for the 2026 academic year. Application fees are waived for students who apply for studies at the University of Pretoria if their household income is lower than or equal to R150 000 per annum. Online applicants must upload proof of income in STEP 12 of the online application process. This will serve as proof of payment, to allow you to verify and apply your form. These documents will be verified.

UP Aplication Open Date 2026:
- The online application window for the University of Pretoria 2026 will be open on 2 April
- 31 May 2025 – Closing date for applications for Veterinary Science programmes
- 30 June 2025 – Closing date for applications for all other UP programmes
- 21 to 31 January 2026 – Register online from 21 January 2026. Please ensure you are registered by 31 January to avoid forfeiting your study place

University Of Pretoria Online Application Requirements For 2026
Applicants are to get the following requirements and documents attached to their applications:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted
- Mathematics 4 (50%-59%) or 3 (40%-49%) only if a 4 was obtained for Physical Sciences.
- Physical Science 4 (50%-59%) or 3 (40%-49%) only if a 4 was obtained for Mathematics.
- English or Afrikaans: 4 (50%-59%)
- Life Orientation: 4 (50%-59%) (Excluded when calculating the APS)
- Two other subjects: 4 (50%-59%)
- An Admission Points Score (APS) of at least 22
- Admissions test

- When submitting your UPOnline study application, you are required to pay an application fee of R300 (or US$30)

University Of Pretoria Online Application Process 2026
The process given below is the step-by-step guide to applying for admission into the University of Pretoria:
- Applications to the University of Pretoria (UP) open on 2 April of the year before the start of your studies.
- Each applicant must submit only one online application. On this application, you are required to choose both a first and second choice of study programs.
- Once your application is processed, you will receive a student number (EMPLID). However, receiving this number does not mean that you have been accepted into the university. Admission is a separate process, and your application will be reviewed by the relevant faculty.
- It is strongly recommended that you complete the online application yourself. UP does not use representatives, agents, or agencies in the application process. If you choose to work with a representative or agency, you do so at your own risk. Make sure to provide your email and postal address so UP can communicate with you directly.
- If you are applying for Distance Education in the Faculty of Education, please visit the Distance Education web page for specific requirements before applying, as different rules apply.
Important:
- For selection programs like BSc(Arch) (Architecture) or BSc(Int) (Interior Architecture), these must be listed as your first choice on the application to be considered. It is also recommended to list other selection programs as your first choice.
