The CPUT processes a high volume of applications, which can make the wait for admission decisions a stressful time for many prospective students. Once your application is entered into the CPUT system, you will receive an SMS confirming its receipt, please note that this is not an acceptance notice.

You will also receive an Application Verification email that confirms the programme you applied for. Be sure to check your junk email folder in case the message is filtered there. Alternatively, you can verify your application status online via CPUT Study Track.

How to Check Your 2026-2027 Application Status at CPUT

To check the status of your 2026-2027 application, follow these simple steps:

Visit the official CPUT website.
Click on “Study at CPUT.”
Select “Track Application Status.”
Enter your ID, Passport, or Asylum number, or your student number along with your full first name in the required fields.
Click on “Get my application status.”
Your application status will be displayed.

Successful applicants will also receive an SMS notification confirming their acceptance into the institution.

Application Status Meaning at CPUT

Your application status may read as any of the following;

Acknowledgement of Application:  Your application has been successfully received.
Online Incomplete : Your application is incomplete and will not be evaluated.
Application Being Processed : Your application is currently being evaluated by the relevant faculty.
Alternative Selection Outcome : You have been referred to the Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP), which lasts four years.
Provisionally Accepted : Full acceptance is contingent on your NSC results. If accepted, you’ll be notified via SMS and must register within 48 hours.
Waitlisted – Space Availability : You are waitlisted due to full programme capacity. You may be reconsidered if space becomes available before year-end, after NSC results, or after registration.
