Wits University Application Status Meaning 2026-2027

Admission to Wits requires high marks. Initial assessment is based on self-reported, Grade 11 final results, with final decisions based on your official matric results. Your application is considered incomplete and will not be considered if we do not receive all the required documentation. However, your application status may read as any of the following;

Offer of a Place

Firm offers are confirmed after the final matric results.
Matric applicants may receive a provisional offer based on Grade 11 results.
Each degree choice is a separate application; the order of preference doesn’t matter.

Firm Offers

After receiving a firm offer, register and sign the student contract once registration opens, usually at the start of the academic year.
Offers will appear on the self-service portal; details for registration and orientation are on the Wits website.
You may only accept one offer. To secure your place, accept and register before the deadline.
Complete the student contract and make the first payment. If awaiting NSFAS feedback, you can postpone payment.
