How To Apply For UWC Online: 2026-2027:
The University of Witwatersrand (Wits) offers a variety of degree programs in Arts, Humanities, Commerce, Law, Health Sciences, and Sciences. Admissions for the 2026-2027 academic year are now open. Wits provides a cutting-edge curriculum designed to keep students and staff updated with global advancements. Applications must be submitted by the deadline, of September 30.
To apply for the academic year 2026, South African citizens must pay an application fee of R100, while international applicants pay R700. Applications without the fee will not be processed. Applicants need to upload all required documents during the application process. Admission to Wits is highly competitive and depends on strong academic performance. Initial evaluations use your self-reported Grade 11 final results, while final decisions are based on your official matric results.

Wits Online Application Requirements 2026-2027
You will need the following requirements and documents:
- Upload your supporting documents at the time of application. You can also upload your documents via the student self-service portal https://self-service.wits.ac.za after submitting your application Click the Documents and
- Communications tile, and then the green top right Manage Documents button.
- Current Matrics: Upload your final Grade 11 results (no hardcopy required).
- Already Matriculated: Upload certified copies of all your matric certificates/foreign school leaving certificates.
- Other Tertiary Institutions: Upload a certified copy of official academic records from ALL tertiary registrations (even if the qualification was not completed), inclusive of a statement/certificate of good conduct, stamped by the institution’s registrar. (Note that interim, self-service generated results will be considered for initial assessment purposes for GEMP applicants ONLY.)
Wits Online Application Fee For 2026-2027
A non-refundable application fee is required: R100 for South African citizens and R700 for international applicants. To proceed, log into the self-service portal using your person/student number and your date of birth in the YYMMDD format.
- Ensure payments are made before the closing dates.
- Use only your person/student number as the payment reference.

Wits Online Application Process For 2026-2027
The following is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for admission to the University Of Witwatersrand:
- You may apply for a maximum of three programmes (order of choice does not matter).
- Do you meet the admission requirements for your degree of choice?
- Apply before the closing date.
- Apply using your names as they appear on your ID book/card or passport (do not use initials or nicknames).
- If you apply for two programmes within one Faculty, you are advised to apply for one programme in a less restricted faculty ( Humanities, Commerce or Science).
- Try to keep your study options open, especially when applying for programmes in faculties such as Health Sciences or Engineering.
- Do not enter the duration of the programme. You are applying to go into 1st year of study.
- By the POPI Act, applicants are required to complete their applications and accept the
- University’s legal declaration of indemnity and undertaking. The University will not engage with third-party agents facilitating applications on behalf of applicants.
